a red-blooded effort at an amusing and educational(ish) verse or two… 🙂

A Bloody Ballad

Bright, young corpuscle flowing along
He was humming a popular corpuscle song
Knowing somehow that his job was to swim
He dreamed of adventures fate planned for him

He had left the bone marrow early this morn
When into the fast flowing stream he was born
With thousands of brothers and sisters was he
Soon swimming fast in the warm carmine sea

Bumping and jostling in a constant race
Huffing and puffing and red-in-the-face
Young corpuscle wondered what was the hurry
But went along with the crowd with nary a worry

Where were they going? and what would they do?
Was there some place they were all headed to?
He hoped for excitement, that was quite plain
But he did not know he was hoping-in-vein
