a confidence boosting poem for those who habitually compare themsleves with others and feel as if they aren’t ‘good enough’…

Just Don’t Compare
(A confidence boosting poem)

You may not be as pretty
Nor as witty, nor as wise
You hair is not as lustrous
You don’t have gorgeous eyes
Your legs too thin, or else too fat
Cellulite upon your thighs
You voice may lack authority
(That comes as no surprise)
You may not have their style or class
That much you can surmise
You feel you have no influence
(Though you’ve had a thousand tries)
They all have far more friends than you
(You suspect you’re just not nice)
Competition may well scare you off
As you’ve never won a prize
You tell yourself you’re just as good
Yet you know that it’s all lies
But, chin-up and best foot forward
All your doubts you must disguise
Stop comparing and despairing
As it will only tantalize…
We cannot all be number one
(Nor even number two)
The world needs under-achievers
And that is something you can do!
