What if…

(a.k.a. The Database)

Heaven is a Database of untold capacity
No marble halls, no angelic choir
But the Cloud on which ‘you’ll’ be
A record of your rights and wrongs
From birth to final day
Of all the things you did or said
Along life’s errant way
Your ‘consciousness’ of all your sins
(And all your merits too)
Captured, catalogued and stored
Beside the other billions who
Lived and perished on this Earth
Etched on a mighty, virtual Disk
And kept for all eternity
Then…tell me would your risk
To do the things you didn’t ought
For which in life perhaps not caught
But knowing that forever more
Recorded in this sacred store
There’ll be a folder with your name
That clearly shows if you’re to blame
Or hid some other secret shame
Making the world a lesser place
Another story of disgrace?
Or might it make you think again
And try to live like better men
Being patient, kind and fair
Tolerant and showing care
To all the others that you meet
From friends to vagrants on the street
So when your story finally ends
You’ve done your best to make amends?
